Meeting
Where to be, and when
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Meeting point | Piazza Santo Spirito, at the church steps. Chiara has a green TasteLocal folder |
| Time | 09:30. The group leaves at 09:40 |
| If you are late | Call the number on your booking. Chiara will tell you where stop 2 is |
| Group size | Your four plus six others, ten maximum |
| Ends | About 13:00, at the gelateria near Ponte alla Carraia |
| Weather | The walk runs in rain. Only lightning cancels it |
| Accessibility | Cobbles and two small steps at stop 3. Tell us if that matters |
| Children | Welcome. Your 14 year old gets soft drinks at the wine stops |
The bakery
The one stop that cannot accommodate
Stop 2 is a working forno with one oven and flour in the air. They were asked and their answer was honest.
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Chosen: the group goes in, your daughter waits outside with Chiara | Six minutes. Chiara stays with her and has a GF alternative from stop 1 |
| Skip the stop entirely | Possible. It is the stop most guests remember, so we do not suggest it |
| Bring her own | Also fine. Some guests prefer it |
The forno said they could not guarantee no contamination in a room where schiacciata dough is worked, and they were right to say so rather than offer something and hope. A producer who declines honestly is one we keep.
Changes
When a producer cannot open
| Situation | What happens | Money |
|---|---|---|
| A stop closes at short notice | Chiara substitutes an equivalent. It happens perhaps once a month | No change |
| Two or more stops unavailable | We offer another date or a refund before you travel | Your choice |
| Lightning or a city closure | Cancelled, told by 07:30 | Full refund or another date |
| You cancel more than 48 hours before | n/a | Full refund |
| You cancel inside 48 hours | n/a | None. The producers are already paid |
| You do not arrive | The group leaves at 09:40 | None |
The 48 hour rule exists because every stop is a small independent business that has ordered for your group. The money has already left before you cancel.
