Two cars, eleven dates a year, and the cambelt is four years overdue
An ownership calendar built from your documents, with one item that is not a reminder.
Both cars now have a complete calendar: service, test, insurance, tax and seasonal tasks, eleven dates across the year. Reading the service history found one item that is not a scheduling matter. The Octavia's cambelt is specified at six years or 90,000 miles and the last recorded change was in 2016.
The cambelt interval on the Octavia was exceeded in 2022 by time, regardless of mileage. This is the one item in a vehicle calendar where being late does not mean a bill, it means an engine. Speak to a garage this week.
Urgent
The cambelt
| Vehicle | Interval | Last done | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Octavia 1.6 TDI, 2014 | 6 years or 90,000 miles | March 2016, 41,200 miles | Overdue by time since 2022 |
| Current mileage | 78,400 | Under the mileage limit | |
| Water pump | Usually replaced with the belt | Not recorded | Ask the garage |
You are inside the mileage limit and four years past the time limit. Cambelt intervals are specified in both because the belt degrades whether or not the car is driven, and low annual mileage is exactly the profile where this gets missed.

Two tyre changeovers a year for two cars is four appointments, and they are the ones most often left until the weather has already turned. Booking both cars into the same slot in mid November is one call rather than four.
Record
What the history shows
| Octavia | Yaris | |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase documents | Held | Held |
| Service history, complete | Gaps 2019 to 2021 | Complete |
| Cambelt record | 2016 only | Chain, not applicable |
| Test certificates | Last 3 years | All |
| Insurance documents | Current only | Current only |
| Tyre purchase dates | Not recorded | Not recorded |
| Known open issues | 2 | 0 |
Two open issues on the Octavia from the last test: an advisory on a rear tyre and a note about a slight oil weep. Neither is urgent, both were mentioned verbally, and neither was written down anywhere before now.
| Open item | Vehicle | Raised | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rear nearside tyre close to the limit | Octavia | Last test, December 2025 | Check before the winter changeover |
| Slight oil weep, sump area | Octavia | Last service | Mention at the February service |
This week
Four things
- Take the Octavia service history to a garage and ask about the cambelt
- Book both cars in for the tyre changeover in mid November
- Check the rear nearside tyre while it is off
- Put the eleven dates in a calendar that reminds you a fortnight ahead
- Photograph both sets of documents and store them somewhere shared
- Record the tyre purchase date at the November changeover
